NASA’s innovative Advanced Composite Solar Sail System, featuring deployable composite booms and a solar sail, has achieved successful deployment in space. The system is currently under evaluation due to a minor bend in one of the booms that appeared during deployment, although it may have partially corrected itself since then. The main goal of this mission is to evaluate the deployment technology in a space environment and collect valuable data to support future solar sail missions. Efforts are ongoing to reactivate the spacecraft’s attitude control system, which is crucial for precise maneuvering and effective communication.
