NASA has postponed making a decision on budget cuts that would impact the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Hubble Space Telescope’s science program. This delay is due to uncertainties in finalizing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The Chandra X-ray Observatory is facing a potential 40% reduction in its budget, which would decrease its annual funding from $68.3 million to $41.1 million. This reduction would continue to decrease each year until 2029. Similarly, the Hubble Space Telescope is confronting a proposed 10% budget cut, which would lower its budget from $98.3 million to $88.9 million.
