While Khosla acknowledged Wiener’s contributions to local issues, he emphasized that AI regulation is a complex global issue that Wiener lacks the expertise to manage effectively.

The proposed bill, SB 1047, sought to hold AI laboratories accountable for any severe risks their AI models might pose. However, the bill faced strong opposition from various influential individuals and organizations, leading to its eventual veto by Governor Newsom.
