NASA’s Solar Sail Spacecraft Faces Minor Setback

NASA’s Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3) spacecraft, which is currently testing solar sail propulsion technology, has experienced a minor setback. During the deployment of its expansive light-catching sail, which is held in place by four composite booms, one of the booms encountered an issue and bent. Despite this complication and the spacecraft tumbling in Earth orbit, NASA officials remain optimistic. They believe that this will not majorly affect the spacecraft’s capability to carry out its planned technology demonstration maneuvers.
