Penguin Random House Implements AI Training Restrictions

Penguin Random House, a prominent publishing company, has announced that it will be incorporating a distinct statement on the copyright pages of its books. This addition is specifically designed to restrict the use of their books in training artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The statement will be featured in both new publications and reprints of existing titles. It will explicitly forbid the reproduction of any portion of the book for the purpose of AI training.

This recent update is a reflection of the publisher’s growing concerns regarding the utilization of copyrighted content in the training of AI models. Despite these concerns, Penguin Random House clarifies that they are not entirely against the integration of AI within the publishing industry. The move aims to protect the intellectual property rights of the authors and the integrity of the copyrighted works.
